Trompe l`oeil means to trick the eye.To give the illusion of a three dimensional object. For example a painted window in a windowless room, adding depth and actually making the room appear bigger. Whether it be a whole wall or room painted to look like  a courtyard, or a tiny hole in a wall with a mouse peeking out. it can be quite dramatic and believable!

There are so many reasons to have an outdoor mural. It is a fun way of tricking the eye or just extending the outside in or the inside out.

Ideas for outside areas:

• Areas where plants will not grow
• Brighten up a plain wall
• Disguise a wall covering trash or air-conditioning units
• Maybe your neighbors block wall is directly outside your kitchen window.. paint a scene you would prefer to be looking at!
• Garage door
• Paint the back of your neighbor's garage if you look onto it. Charge him for it!!

Remember the area needs to be clean, free of dust and moisture in order to paint on it. Although the paint I use has a higher lightfast scale than house paint it will fade over time due to sunlight moisture and the general air quality.
